Why Ambridge?
A once thriving industrial community outside of Pittsburgh is struggling, like many other communities in our country, with the loss of key businesses that formerly generated wealth that drove its economy. Many residents and merchants have left the community, and among those remaining, many are unemployed and suffering from substance abuse and other problems associated with long-term poverty.

Problems associated with low income, such as crime, substance abuse, low academic achievement, and dysfunctional relationships, are prevalent in this area. The culture of dependence associated with chronic poverty is and will be a reality for years to come in Ambridge, which is why the Center for Hope is committed to helping people become independent.
