Our Story
The Center for Hope opened in 2004 as a result of a church congregation’s desire to serve its community through hands-on ministry. The Fellowship United Methodist Church congregation of Ambridge knew that many of the community’s residents were in need of basic necessities and fellowship, so they began to serve out of a building on Merchant Street that was once a parochial school.
Although the congregation had the passion to serve, resources and funding were limited. In 2007, the board developed a strategic plan to raise capital and with God’s help, the Center flourished. |
By 2010, the Center provided services more than 26,000 times for people in need through the distribution of food and clothing, as well as through other programs and activities.
By January of 2011, the ministry had outgrown its space and moved to a larger building nearby. Now the Center is in the process of raising funds in order to renovate the second floor of the new building in order to offer additional services, including medical clinics and job search training. At the Center for Hope, God’s grace is ever-present and we are thankful that He is our ultimate provider. The Center is supported by many denominations. |
