Each month, I am grateful for the opportunity to share with you the incredible stories and progress that highlight the compassion and resilience of our dedicated staff, volunteers, and the amazing individuals we serve.
Together, we create a nurturing environment where hope flourishes and lives transform. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey, and I look forward to sharing this month’s inspiring updates with you.
Hunger is on the rise in our community this summer. Recently, we had a diabetic gentleman who came to pick up his food and almost passed out. Two of the men volunteering were able to put the gentleman in a chair safely, and we were able to get his glucose levels back up. He was provided with an emergency bag of crackers to keep with his medications to use if he hadn’t eaten before taking them.
During the week of June 27th, a record-breaking number of people attended our produce day. Within a two-hour distribution, 76 families representing 282 individuals in need of food were picked up.
These events have demonstrated to us that hunger and food needs within the community are on the rise, making your support more crucial than ever.
RMU students visited the Center at the end of June to do a presentation for their class project. We enjoy collaborating with RMU in various ways and are thankful for their time.
Sewickley Academy students are coming to the Center to volunteer more often. This relationship with the students is excellent, and with many students who speak Spanish, they can assist in translating with our clients at the Center.
This past month, we also held an outdoor clothing giveaway. It was a successful event, allowing us to provide fresh clothing to our homeless clients and others in need.
Together, we are creating a supportive and compassionate community that helps individuals in need thrive. I am continuously amazed by the generosity and dedication of our volunteers and partners, who make these events possible.
If you or someone you know needs assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help and support our community in any way we can.
